About the Studio

Root + Reef Interiors is an interior design studio founded in 2024 on the coast of Delaware. Our work is shaped by the light of the Mid-Atlantic shoreline and the quiet confidence of old-world craft — warm oak, cedar, linen, natural stone, and the patina that only time earns.

Before founding Root + Reef, our principal designer spent a decade inside the flooring industry, working closely with major manufacturers. That ground-level perspective — how materials are made, how they age, and which ones are worth specifying — shapes every project we take on.

Design philosophy

We design rooms that feel rooted, not styled. Spaces that quiet down rather than show off. Heritage materials paired with restraint; warmth without excess. Our palette leans toward sun-faded neutrals, soft woods, and fabrics that soften with use — the kind of rooms you grow into, not decorate over.

The Journal
